DACA Resources

The current status of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) issue remains in flux. As of January 20, 2021, President Biden issued a memorandum to preserve and fortify DACA directing Homeland Security and the Attorney General to take action. The House passed a Bill on March 18, 2021, to provide a pathway for citizenship for undocumented immigrants brought into the country as children. This legislation will still have to pass through the Senate and be signed by the President. However, if signed, this could allow for a path to citizenship for millions of individuals that fall under DACA. However, DACA students remain unsure of the ultimate resolution to this issue.

Most universities have staff who have expertise in handling DACA cases. Typically these staff members are housed in the division of Student Affairs, but there is a great deal of variance. Faculty who advise or interact with DACA students should find out where in your institution DACA students can turn.

In addition, the following list provides other resources that DACA students can explore. There is no assurance that problems can be solved using these resources, but they may be a starting point to resolve issues.
